Let's talk concerts!
Hi! My name is Ariel and I am here to talk all about concerts! As someone who started going to different live music events when I was a teenager, I have a lot of experiences that I would like to share with you and some tips if you plan on going to an event in the future.
Here are some artists I’ve been at concerts for: Day6, Stray Kids, A.C.E, and, Big Time Rush (yes I know). I also love musicals so I’ve seen Hadestown and Little Shops of Horror. Last November I went to my first comedy stand-up performance to see my favorite content creator, Dan Howell. It felt nearly close to a concert because everyone was so interactive and having a great time listening to Dan crack his morbid jokes. Anyways, we are here to talk about live music concerts so I’ll focus on that.
Ariel! I’ve never been to a concert what should I do and what should I expect? Well, a concert is a live music performance in front of an audience, usually among dedicated fans who have been waiting years to see their favorite artists live in front of them. Each performance has a ‘setlist’ which are the designated songs that the artist will perform at the concert. Where do you go to see a performance? Do you go straight to whoever is holding the show? Yes and no. The artists who are holding the concert are having a tour which is a collection of concerts that are performed in different cities that the artist will actively travel to. However, in my case and other dedicated fans, I like to save money to buy tickets and “follow” my favorite bands as they go around the States to sing. Do not be like me...I have to save a lot of money and cross my fingers that my favorite K-pop groups or Western artists will be on tour in the summer instead of the school year.
Now you might be wondering what you need to doto prepare for a concert especially if you are going to a different city or out of state. Here are some quick tips to help you get a good foundation.
Set a budget. I repeat! Set a budget. (Hotels, transportation, food, merchandise, emergencies, and all of the other little things in between.)
Double-check everything in advance, do not wait until the last minute. (Make sure that your hotel is in a safe location and easy to find. Check to see if they charge an extra fee if you happen to use room service.)
Make sure that you have your ticket ready. Either digitally or physically but preferably both.
Join fanbase communities on social media. (Facebook and Twitter are great places to find fans who are going to the concerts and they are more than happy to meet up at the venue to make friends!)
Go to the venue’s (the place where the concert will be held) Website and check their outside food, what to bring, and bag policies. Check the map of the venue so you know where everything is located and you don’t get lost.
I know this is cliche, but have fun! It doesn’t matter if you go alone or with a group of friends. The very purpose of a concert is to dance, sing, jump, and enjoy what you love even more.
